The divorce rate and all its details, as per the statistics recorded by the US Census Bureau, is not at all encouraging. Over 50% failure rate in marriages has been recorded which accounts to 1.2 divorces in 3.2 marriages in the United States. Such marriage-divorce ratio is quite appalling. But why do divorces happen? Why do couples choose to forget their once said vows and just conclude the marital bond into a divorce?
Certain factors can be accounted for in a divorce. Although the causes for divorce vary in every marriage, the top causes as reported in a 2003 study conducted among American couples include infidelity, incompatibility, drinking or drug use, personality issues and lack of communication, and physical and mental abuse. While some other couples are able to save the marriage through intensive counseling efforts, some do not and only find enlightenment on the marriage dissolution instead.
